Apply for awards, scholarships and bursaries
The application period is now open for NSCC students to apply for spring awards, scholarships and bursaries.
- To apply, log in to our Student Awards Portal and get matched to the awards you qualify for.
- Awards received in Spring are split in two instalments: half to help cover Fall 2021 costs and half to help cover Winter 2022 costs.
Applying for financial aid may seem like yet another task to add to your high stack of things to do as a student at this time of year, but investing the time and effort into completing an application can really pay off. For instance, if you spend four hours applying for all awards that you are eligible for and you are lucky enough to be selected for an award valued at $1,000 (average amount), that means you’ve earned $250 per hour of your time. Not bad!

Free money
Our awards, scholarships and bursaries will help you supplement your educational costs. A reduction in these expenses could mean you have more funds to help cover your living costs, which means you may not have to borrow as much as you thought.
It’s easy
The Student Awards Portal will automatically match you with the awards, scholarships and bursaries you’re eligible to apply for based on the completion of three tasks:
- Consent to Disclosure of Information (mandatory)
- Student Profile (to be eligible for awards with additional self-identifying criteria)
- Budget for 2021-22 Academic Year (to be eligible for awards with financial-need criteria)
NSCC has different criteria for awards – financial need, academics, leadership and career interests are some examples. Some awards require the completion of essays or obtaining a recommendation from an individual in support of your application.
Great practice
The questions asked on the awards application force you to look inward. Learning how to articulate your answers can help you sell yourself in future awards applications, educational pursuits, cover letters and job interviews. Not to mention, receiving a student award can be a great addition to your portfolio and may get noticed by prospective employers.
