Defence workforce development
Working alongside Canada's defence sector to develop its workforce.
NSCC supports Canada’s defence, marine and aerospace sectors through customized training and education that responds to organizational needs, timelines and operational environments.
As investment and procurement activity continue to grow, employers need access to new talent and opportunities to develop existing workers. NSCC works with employers, industry and government partners to help build that workforce through marine and trades pathways and applied learning.
Areas of focus
NSCC delivers customized marine trades training in collaboration with Irving Shipbuilding, including programs like the Irving Shipbuilding Marine Trades Initiative.
These initiatives create pathways to employment and expand access to shipbuilding careers for equity-deserving groups, including women, Indigenous Peoples and Black Canadians. Read Ke-Yana's story: Building a career in marine trades
For more than 2 decades, NSCC has delivered customized, hands-on trades training for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
Delivered outside NSCC’s regular programming, these accelerated programs are tailored to military requirements in fields such as carpentry, electrical, refrigeration and plumbing. Read how NSCC supports CAF training
