Pastry Baker/Cake Decorator

About the Position

24 Carrots Bakery is a busy wholesale/retail bakery located on Kempt Road in Halifax.

In business for over 30 years, we have an excellent reputation for producing quality baked goods, which are prepared from scratch by our professional team of bakers. We have an immediate opening for an permanent, full-time, Pastry Baker & Cake Decorator.

Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of baking sweets and pastries and will demonstrate they have the experience, talent, and advanced skills to design and decorate custom cakes.
• Duties will include preparing doughs and batters, working from recipes, and operating bakery equipment such as mixers, sheeter, proofer, ovens etc.
• Shifts begin at 7:00am and schedule will include Saturdays beginning at 6:00am.

Job Type: Permanent, full time.

Education: Secondary School (preferred)

Experience: Bakery - 2 years (required)

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized baking program
• Ideally can demonstrate advanced cake decorating skills and experience
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Excellent organizational and numeracy skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 20 Kg
• Ability to work in the heat of a bakery production kitchen
