Education and family supports careers

American Sign Language English Interpretation
Disability Supports Professional
Early Childhood Education

Some of the most important work with children, youth and families happens right in the classroom - and in early learning centres, group homes and community programs across the province.

Choose an education and family support program and pursue a career supporting young people and families through the everyday realities of disability, neurodivergence and mental wellbeing, or help people of all ages participate more fully in their communities.

Some paths lead to professional certification or a provincial classification. Others build practical, in-demand skills for entry-level roles. Either way, you finish trained for work that helps people succeed in learning, development and daily life.

  • Learn from Deaf perspectives and experience. In ASL and interpreting studies, learn from Deaf faculty and connect with Deaf language and culture, developing your understanding of communication, access and professional practice.
  • Connect your learning to community settings. Prepare for work in early learning centres, schools, residential setttings and community organizations, with an emphasis on respectful relationships and support shaped around each person.
  • Hands-on placements built into every education and family support program. Every one of these programs includes work experience, preparing you for the workforce with on-the-job experience before you graduate.
