Gain the knowledge and skills to reduce climate impacts in construction. This course introduces the science of climate change and its effects on both natural and built environments, with a focus on practical applications for the construction trades.
You’ll explore key concepts such as:
- Carbon emissions
- Energy efficiency for new and existing structures
- Lifecycle carbon
Through real-world examples, you’ll learn how to make informed decisions at every stage of construction, from purchasing to installation, to help create a cleaner, low-carbon future.
This microcredential is designed for individuals working in or entering the construction trades who want to build practical expertise in sustainable practices and support Canada’s transition to a clean economy.

Admission requirements
This course is open to individuals who:
- Are legally entitled to work in Canada under applicable provincial and federal regulations
- Are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or have been granted refugee status in Canada
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Are seeking upskilling or reskilling opportunities to prepare for sectoral shifts toward more sustainable practices
