NSCC is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded territory and traditional homeland of the Mi’kmaq Nation. Our relationship is based on a series of peace and friendship treaties between the Mi’kmaq Nation and the Crown, dating back to 1725.

Unlocking a 400-year-old mystery in a Nova Scotia marsh On a river in southwest Nova Scotia, an investigation by a historical sleuth is helping revive the search for the long-lost gristmill, a water-powered flour mill believed to be the oldest mill and one of the earliest industrial sites in North America. NSCC is supporting this search, producing a LiDAR map that's identified traces of dikes dating back to the 17th century.
