Why NSCC

What it takes to be on the frontlines of health and support care

Frontline health and support care is meaningful work that asks a lot of you, but gives you a lot in return. The people who do it well share a few things in common - and NSCC programs are built around those same qualities. These careers ask you to:

  • Work directly with patients, clients or families, often at hard moments in their lives.
  • Be comfortable with physical, hands-on tasks and long periods on your feet.
  • Bring patience, empathy and a steady presence, even under pressure.
  • Communicate clearly with people from many backgrounds and abilities.
  • Keep learning as care standards, technology and best practices change.

To prepare, these programs share a strong practicum focus, small class sizes and instructors who have worked in the field. Many graduates move directly into public health, long-term care, community agencies and private practice across Nova Scotia.
