Work begins on new student housing at NSCC Kingstec Campus

We're marking an important milestone in our commitment to expanding access to student housing across Nova Scotia. Thanks to an investment from the Nova Scotia Government, construction is set to begin in the coming weeks on a new 90-bed student housing facility at Kingstec Campus in Kentville.

"This new housing facility will provide students with a place to live while studying and will help grow and strengthen our campus community," says Jason Clark, Principal, Kingstec Campus.

More housing planned

The project is being delivered by the Department of Public Works and is 1 of 4 student housing projects planned across NSCC. Together, these developments will add approximately 270 beds across the College's Kingstec, Cumberland, Institute of Technology and Lunenburg campuses. The new facility builds on previous provincial investments that created 350 student housing spaces at NSCC's Pictou, Akerley and Ivany campuses.

“Having housing right next to campus is exciting news for students," says Alex Faye, Student Association President at Kingstec Campus. "It will make daily life easier while creating a welcoming community where students can build friendships, support one another and make the most of their college experience.”

"Access to affordable housing is a key part of student success," says Nolan Young, Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration. "This investment puts students first by creating more on-campus housing, helping learners focus on their education instead of worrying about where they will live. It will also make it easier for more Nova Scotians to access training and build the skilled workforce our province needs."

Construction updates

Site preparation work will begin in the coming days and weeks, including the installation of safety fencing, the establishment of construction access routes and other activities to prepare the site for construction. The housing facility is expected to be completed in fall 2028. As the work begins, updates will be shared at nscc.ca/ConstructionUpdates.
