An exciting send-off took place in April as 82 students and 13 employees prepared for upcoming global learning experiences with NSCC International. Over the next few months, participants are set to expand their learning and share their knowledge through study projects that span the globe – taking part in 11 projects across 11 countries.

These international opportunities go far beyond travel – they reflect NSCC’s commitment to preparing students for success in a global workforce. Through NSCC’s Global Skills Opportunities, students develop real-world competencies that employers value: communication, adaptability, leadership, and global awareness.

Since January, participants have been engaged in a comprehensive pre-departure course, covering topics such as travel health and safety, cross-cultural communication and global employability skills. In April, they completed their virtual orientation during NSCC International's annual pre-departure conference.

In addition to the upcoming international programs, three impactful projects took place in March, where 14 students and three employees had the opportunity to learn and apply their skills abroad:

  • The Culture, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Professional Skills program (CELPS) in Grenada, featuring an all-Black Nova Scotian cohort
  • An all-Indigenous learning program in Costa Rica
  • A financial technology project in Kenya

“NSCC’s global learning opportunities open doors to the world,” says Kellie McMullin, Manager, International Learning (Outbound), NSCC International. “Each student or employee that takes part grows both personally and professionally, transforming their perspectives while building skills to succeed in an interconnected world.”

“This program helped me strengthen my communication, teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration skills – all essential to my career in business,” says Queen Onabanjo, a Business Administrative student at Ivany Campus who participated in the CELPS program in Grenada in March. “This experience reminded me why I do what I do – to create bridges, uplift voices and bring value through purpose-driven leadership.”
