Canada’s residential, commercial, and institutional buildings account for 18% of our national greenhouse gas emissions. The adoption of zero-emission energy sources such as solar photovoltaic (PV), as an alternative to fossil fuels, represents a key part of Canada’s 2030 Emission Reduction Plan. This course provides students with the skills required to design solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for clients. Students develop the skills required to conduct site assessments, calculate system requirements and potential for properties, and select appropriate system components and equipment for a property. While developing these skills, students also learn to interpret manufacturer specifications and manuals, and use modeling software to identify the physical spacing potential of a property.
Pre-requisite: SAFE 1001 or equivalent, SOLA 100M or equivalent
