NSCC and NS Power launch new Power and Utility Line Work cohort
On-campus event to welcome first cohort in Sydney

Sydney, NS – Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) and Nova Scotia Power will host an on-campus event at the Sydney Waterfront Campus to mark the launch of a new Power and Utility Line Work program in Cape Breton, addressing workforce demand in the province’s energy sector.The event will feature the formal transfer of a Nova Scotia Power bucket truck for exclusive training use – now part of the program’s hands-on training environment – a key investment supporting skilled trades education in the region.

The pilot program includes a significant industry investment and the development of dedicated training facilities – including a full pole yard at Nova Scotia Power’s Sydney Depot and an on-campus training yard. The expansion is helping address urgent workforce needs while creating opportunities for people to train and build careers in Cape Breton.
