Apply for campus housing

Campus housing admissions process

NSCC's Campus Housing admission process considers several factors when offering a space in campus housing to students and assigning rooms/roommates/suitemates. For those wanting to live on campus beginning in September 2024, NSCC Campus Housing begins offering students a room type/space starting May 1st and will continue extending offers on a rolling basis until all available spaces have been confirmed.

NSCC Campus Housing makes it a practice to create as accessible an admission process as possible, which includes reassigning spaces/offers as necessary, in addition to directly allocating spaces and reducing barriers for equity deserving students. Considerations include holding space offers, adjusting deposit/payment timelines and reassigning spaces as deemed necessary.

Making an offer

Campus Housing considerations when making offers for campus housing can include:

  • Date of application – generally the earlier you apply the better
  • Academic admission status - only students who have confirmed their seat at NSCC will be able to apply for and be offered campus housing
  • Enrollment – priority is given to students enrolled at the specific campus location
  • Accessibility requirements – students must indicate any special considerations on their application. NSCC Campus Housing will follow up with the student directly to obtain details
  • Room style preference (only where there are options available)
  • Gender identity/student lifestyle preferences – including living and roommate/suitemate preferences where applicable

Assignment of rooms/roommates/suitemates

The second step in the Campus Housing admission process includes assigning specific rooms and roommates to those who have accepted a housing offer and takes into account:

  • Lifestyle preferences - as indicated on your application (i.e., study habits, sleep habits, etc.)
  • Roommate/suitemate preferences – if confirmed across all applications
  • Allergies - both environmental and dietary
  • Additional special considerations

How to Apply

  • This year, we are using our student awards portal to support campus housing applications. Once the application opens on March 4, you must visit the specific campus housing page to review information on location, amenities and general cost. From there, click on the apply now button and sign in using your NSCC username (w# + @campus.nscc.ca) and password. If you need help with your login or password, please click on trouble signing in.
  • If you have not logged in to our student awards portal before, you will be asked to complete the general application. You will then be prompted to complete the application questions associated with your selected campus housing location.

Please note: you must be a confirmed applicant or returning student in order to access the application in our student awards portal.

Campus housing agreement

We're committed to offering safe, respectful campus housing communities. By accepting a spot to live on campus, you will be asked to agree to the terms outlined in the campus housing agreement. You will be asked to complete this agreement and upload it into the student awards portal. You can review the 2024/2025 Campus Housing Agreement (PDF 4MB).

Withdrawals and refunds

All campus housing deposits, once paid, are non-refundable.

A student who is unable to continue living in campus housing due to medical reasons, and/or exceptional circumstances beyond their control, may submit a written application, along with any applicable supporting evidence including medical documentation, to NSCC Campus Housing to request a pro-rated credit of their fees. The application must be submitted within fourteen (14) days of the student’s withdrawal from campus housing. Applications will be considered and determined by the College at its sole and absolute discretion.

A student who withdraws from campus housing after the start of occupancy, regardless of the reason, will be held financially responsible for room and board fees as follows:

  • The student will be required to pay a $100.00 administrative services fee on withdrawal.
  • The student will be required to pay all campus housing fees as outlined in their Campus Housing Assignment Form, prorated to the actual date of departure, plus an additional (4) four weeks of room fees from the actual date of departure.
  • Students who withdraw from campus housing during Fall semester after November 1 or during Winter semester after March 1 will be responsible for payment of the entire room and board fees as quoted for the full semester.
