Educational Assistant and Personal Care Worker (Halifax)

About the Position

An individual in Halifax is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant and Personal Care Worker to support a university student living with cerebral palsy. This is a full-time, one-year position with the potential for renewal.

Position Details:

• Location: Halifax (near public transit, with access to a converted accessible van)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• Training: 2 to 3 paid training days during the week of August 25, 2025
• Compensation: $28/hour
• Vacation & Leave:2 weeks paid vacation5 paid sick days
• Paid holiday break (Christmas to New Year)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily routines, including support with meals; breakfast and lunch
• Provide personal care, including toileting (using a Hoyer lift and commode) and oral hygiene
• Transport to and from university classes (accessible van provided)Take notes during lectures and assist with academic tasks and coursework

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license (required)
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
• Compassionate, patient, and positive attitude
• Experience with personal care and/or disability support

About the Student:

The student is a 23-year-old university attendee who uses a wheelchair and requires physical and academic support to live and learn independently.
