About the Position

A busy medical private practice is looking for a mature, detail-oriented and organized Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to join our team to coordinate a medical practice.

The ideal candidate will handle front desk reception and administrative duties in a fast-paced environment. 

Job duties:

  • Greet and welcome visitors in a professional manner
  • Answer and direct phone calls promptly
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and packages
  • Manage medical billing, accounts payable/receivable, schedule appointments, and maintain calendars
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and document preparation
  • Maintain office supplies inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Type reports, medical transcription of dictations, and billing for medical services
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable 
  • Perform any other administrative duties as assigned

NSCC Students: We are happy to hire you for your WIL Field Placement, with the potential of extending the role into a part-time or full-time position at the end of the placement.

 

Qualifications

This role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, the ability to multitask, and a friendly demeanor.

Required skills:

  • Positive professional customer service attitude
  • Able to work independently and have a strong attitude to learn
  • Strong organizational skills, attentive to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Excellent proficiency in English, written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficient, including skills in Microsoft Office and MSI
  • Previous experience in a Medical Office setting is beneficial but not required
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology in a healthcare office setting

Education/work experience:

  • Post-secondary education in medical / business administration
  • Previous experience with MSI
