Land acknowledgement

NSCC is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded territory and traditional homeland of the Mi’kmaq Nation. Our relationship is based on a series of peace and friendship treaties between the Mi’kmaq Nation and the Crown, dating back to 1725.

As Treaty beneficiaries, we recognize that we are all Treaty People.

Students in Energy Studies Receive Scholarships Nineteen students pursuing energy-related studies have been awarded the Nova Scotia Clean Economy Scholarship, including eight students pursuing natural resource and renewable energy-related programs at NSCC.

Cumberland Joins Geothermal Food Project Cumberland is joining a geothermal feasibility study in Springhill led by the municipality, Cumberland Campus and the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables. The study will use the energy stored in underground water to heat and cool a commercial greenhouse.

Mi’kmaw students at NSCC Strait Area Campus make ribbon skirts Mi’kmaw students in post-secondary across Atlantic provinces are getting the chance to create their own culturally important clothes through ribbon skirt workshops. Pam Toney, Indigenous Student Advisor, Strait Area Campus, facilitated 15 workshops to highlight the strong symbolic and cultural significance of the clothing for Indigenous people. Additional workshops will be held in the future.
