About the Position

We are currently seeking an Mechanical / Automatic Lubrication Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, basic welding, basic metal fab, and a good eye for detail. You will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of auto-lubrication systems on heavy equipment and heavy commercial trucks, ensuring optimal functionality and longevity. Most of this work will take place at the customer's shop or worksite around Halifax Regional Municipality and Truro, with some longer-distance travel required a few times a year.

We will also consider someone who doesn't have as much experience but is willing and eager to learn through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation of auto-lubrication systems on new heavy equipment and heavy commercial trucks.
  • Perform routine inspections of auto-lubrication systems on heavy equipment to identify any issues or potential problems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks on auto-lubrication systems, including lubricant refills, filter replacements, and component adjustments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot auto-lubrication system malfunctions, utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Repair or replace faulty components within auto-lubrication systems, such as pumps, valves, hoses, and fittings.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, work orders, and parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with other members of the repair team to ensure timely completion of repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in mechanics preferred. Will consider someone who doesn't have as much experience but is willing and eager to learn through on-the-job training provided.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, with specific expertise in auto-lubrication systems.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and dump trucks.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, work well with our customers, as well as collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
