About the Position

BF&M is comprised of several companies selling health, life, pension, property and casualty insurance products. We are currently recruiting for Pension Administrators to join the team in the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office. Reporting to the Pensions Operations Lead, this position is responsible for providing effective and efficient administration of group pension plans and supporting ongoing projects to improve the quality of the services provided.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the lifecycle of the plan from enrolment of new members, fund transfers, withdrawals and policy terminations
  • Process employer and member remittance
  • Track pending transactions in the appropriate log and track workflows in the necessary ticketing system
  • Assist the Customer Care team with responding to client queries related to member statements, investment returns, outstanding contributions, internal processes and turnaround times as well as relevant legislation
  • Complete all transactions within stated service level standard and regulatory requirements
  • Access and analyze data from disparate internal systems to identify associations and trends
  • Assist in the reconciliation of intercompany balances and transactions
  • Support technical fixes to customer records on internal systems
  • Assist with any special or ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a major in Business preferred, or the equivalent knowledge gained through a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, such as in financial services, mutual fund administration, or insurance. Previous experience in the insurance industry is preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of AML and/or FATCA as well as investment and insurance products would be considered an asset
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Excel expert with experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential issues
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail across multiple systems
  • Client-centric service philosophy with a strong focus on quality
  • Team oriented and collaborative
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time during peak volume periods in a fast paced environment
