About the Position

Rail Connects is a diverse coalition of individuals, community organizations, businesses, and public and private interests, aligned in our mission to transform the way people move across Nova Scotia.

With a lens of environmental stewardship and on-the-ground community input, we seek to raise the public’s awareness of transit alternatives and engage communities in shaping a light rail rapid transit system that connects people from all corners of Nova Scotia. A high quality, province-wide system will promote sustainable transportation, enhance public health and quality of life, stimulate economic growth, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide choice in terms of how people move and where they choose to live, supporting housing affordability.

By 2031, we envision a province where more than half of all residents don’t require or desire a personal vehicle to get around. Urgent investment to transition from car dependency to an efficient and equitable light rail transit system is vital for Nova Scotia's prosperous future.

- Conducting a journalistic study on all level government spending on roads, EVs and transit etc

- A historic investigation of what travel in Nova Scotia used to be like. Have you heard of the Day Train that used to run Bedford to Halifax!

Open to 8 week placement if works with student schedule.

Open to full remote working, presence in Halifax is not needed, but we do have in person meetings once a month.
