Advanced Energy Management Ltd. (AEM Ltd.) is seeking a Junior Controls and HVAC Service Technician to join the service team in Nova Scotia.  If you are a recent graduate of the Building Systems Technician (HVAC&R) at NSCC or working towards your Refrigeration & A/C Mechanic, we would like to hear from you.   

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Junior Controls and HVAC Service Technician is responsible for proactively servicing and maintaining HVAC mechanical and controls systems, perform startups, and commission systems.    

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Service and Maintenance

  • Perform service and maintenance on HVAC mechanical and controls systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC mechanical and controls issues including refrigeration, ventilation, electrical, electronic, direct digital controls, etc.
  • Provide proactive service and recommendation for future repairs and improvements to help optimize systems.
  • Identify opportunities for retrofit of mechanical and controls systems to help generate new business.
  • Perform startups and commission systems to ensure successful completion of jobs.
  • Complete and submit work order reports in a timely manner to ensure invoices are processed.  

 

 Retrofit & New Installations

  • Conduct retrofits and installations of HVAC mechanical systems
  • Perform startups, installations, and commission all elements of an HVAC mechanical and controls systems.

 

  Systems Diagnostics & Applications

  • Develop an understanding of entire HVAC processes and apply knowledge through performing system diagnosis, startup, and commissioning while developing solutions to remedy or improve the process.  

 

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service and develop key customer relationships by providing proactive service and recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members.             

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience  

  • Post-secondary education in HVAC or Building Automation Systems.
  • Co-op or work experience in a service-oriented environment within a similar industry is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC and controls systems as well as energy management systems
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to utilize technical resources.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical processes and solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Good attention to details and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in work order reports.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to sort through work orders and set priorities daily.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and work well with others.
  • Willing and able to work overtime hours, or work outside the normal business hours, and or work rotational on-call schedule.
