The LINKS Literacy Program is an early intervention program that provides literacy support to students in Grades 1 to 6 who are at least one year behind in their literacy skills, possibly due to a learning disability.
Volunteers work after school, one-on-one with students to help them improve their literacy skills and self-confidence. The program is offered at two sites: one in Halifax and one in Dartmouth. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 2 one-hour periods per week between the hours of 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm from April 1st to June 6th.
Benefits of this volunteer opportunity include: comprehensive literacy training, helping children develop self-confidence in reading, valuable experience in the education field and reference letters upon request. For more information or to obtain a volunteer application please contact Tirsa Finlay at links@chisholm4children.ca
Experience working with children is an asset.
