About the Position

(LOOKING FOR DAYTIME & WEEKEND STAFF FOR JUNE to NOVEMBER).The Schoolhouse—Built in 1839 and located in Peggy’s Cove, NS, The Schoolhouse has been a place of learning and community gathering space, since 1958, when it ceased to be a school—the scene of artistic presentation. The Schoolhouse returns to its decades old tradition of educating through entertaining. The Schoolhouse is operated by the Peggy’s Cove Centre for Arts & Culture as its main performance venue. 

We are currently seeking a reliable Flyer Distributors/Ticket Greeter to join our dynamic team at The Schoolhouse. This person needs to be a motivated and energetic individual that is looking for a part-time seasonal position. You will play a crucial role in promoting our business by distributing flyers, greeting guests and selling tickets in the high tourism location of Peggy’s Cove. If you enjoy being outdoors, interacting with people, and have a passion for sales, hospitality or tourism, this position is perfect for you! 

What You’ll Do:

  • Hit the streets and spread the word by handing out flyers (costumes provided)
  • Chat it up with potential customers, be friendly, and let them know about our amazing maritime experience.
  • Keep it positive, keep it fun – you're the face of our brand!
  • Follow the plan – we'll give you the information on where to go and how to rock it.
  • Let us know how it went – share the love and any interesting stories.
  • Selling tickets via point of sales system, handing out programs, escorting patrons to seats, cleaning/refreshing of venue between shows and end of day.
  • Contributes to building and being a part of a positive culture.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work outdoors and stand for extended periods. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, can approach people and strike up a conversation.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be comfortable engaging with diverse groups of people.
  • Access to transportation to reach designated distribution areas.
  • Basic knowledge and history of the local community and popular gathering places or willingness to learn.
  • Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout event for safety, cleanliness and functionality.
  • Respond quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
  • Ability and willingness to work any assignment, including duties not listed within the scope of this job description.
