About the Position

Architectural Technologist

Reporting to the Senior Architectural Technologist, the Architectural Technologist is responsible for the creation of design and drawings of various construction projects.

They will support the Project Team and liaise with external professional engineering firms, consultants and core trade contractors as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Duties:

  • Supports the Senior Architectural Technologist in the design and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance the department’s workflow. · 
  • Develops technical design, construction drawings, architectural designs, and other relevant documentation as assigned.
  • Assists the project team in project design and related administration.
  • Analyzes building codes, bylaws, space requirements, site requirements, and other technical documents, when creating design plans.
  • Prepares manual, CAD and 3D drawings, specifications, and material quantity takeoffs from conceptual drawings and instructions.
  • Assists Project Management Team with contract and bidding documents as requested.
  • Conducts site visits (when applicable), obtains necessary field measurements and information.
  • Reviews & compares latest construction drawings from various disciplines to aid in identifying conflicts on overall design.
  • Maintains accurate up to date shop drawings, maintain drawing logs, and update and assemble as-built documents.
  • As required attend meetings with project managers, clients, trades and other key stakeholders.    
 

Qualifications

HARD SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Architectural Technologist diploma program or equivalent construction-based diploma or degree program from accredited college or university.   
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration as an engineering technology professional (Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Certified Technician (C. Tech), or Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) with a Provincial professional association.
  • Proficiency with various computerized design programs, such as Auto- CAD and Revit.
  • Good understanding of construction process and project delivery sequences.
  • Good knowledge of construction-based project management software i.e., Procore.
  • Basic knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
