Summer Camp Counsellor

About the Position

The Opportunity:

The Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education has positions available for students to work during the summer period.  If you are looking for a fun experience that will also give you skills towards a future career working with children and families; this a great summer job for you.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Organize and facilitate activities such as arts and crafts, singing, sports activities, games and field trips while maintaining a safe environment and supporting the children’s well being
• Demonstrates positive and professional attitude, ability to work in a team, and possess good communication skills
• Reliable, fun, respectful, and friendly attitude with children  

Requirements:         

• You are currently a student in high school, college or university and plan to attend school full time in September 2023.         
• A field of study related to children and families such as Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Child and Youth Studies, EIBI, Teaching, Social Work, Speech and Language Pathology, etc.         
• You enjoy spending your day with children and planning activities for them.         
• Police Background Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check         
• Child Abuse Registry letter         
• First Aid and CPR qualified Details         
• This position is a temporary summer position 

Locations in Dartmouth and Halifax (NSCC Campuses – IT, Ivany and Akerley)         

• Monday – Friday, full time hours @ $15.00/hour     
• Work available at summer camp and in child care settings       
• Work with children between the ages of 3 months – 12 years
