About the Position

As an Environmental Field Technician in our Assessment and Remediation Division, you will assist with our various field programs related to environmental site assessments, emergency spill response, remediation of contaminated sites, environmental monitoring programs, hazardous materials (HAZMAT) surveys and abatements and other programs. In addition to field work, field technicians will also help with environmental data entry, reporting, research and other tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to Strum’s safety program and ensuring safety procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Collection of accurate data in the field using various types of equipment
  • Collection of various types of field samples (e.g., soil, water, air, asbestos, lead paint, etc.)
  • Compilation of clear, concise and accurate field notes.
  • Support existing field and reporting teams while demonstrating ability to work independently and as part of a larger close-knit team.
  

Qualifications

Attributes and skills:

  • Must be enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary education program related to science or environmental studies.
  • Must have a strong background in sciences.
  • Must be physically capable of performing demanding field work duties.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to pass background / criminal record checks.
  • Experience with environmental field work.
  • Experience working outside or with outdoor recreational activities.
  • Possess professional demeanour and communicate with excellent verbal and written skills in English.
