About the Position

ReelData is a startup that is bringing AI disruption to the aquaculture industry. The core of our technology is backed by deep learning and machine learning algorithms that allow fish farms to reduce the intrusiveness and resources needed to understand various metrics around their fish. Our goal is to help the industry become more sustainable and improve fish health and welfare. The office location for this role will be Dartmouth, NS.

Hardware Technician will support and maintain the development and testing of ReelData hardware products. This includes ordering components, assembling hardware, conducting design tests, running experiments, and calibrating equipment. It also involves traveling to suppliers or test locations. This coop student will focus on bringing a new camera for the Biomass product onto the market. In order to accomplish this task, this individual will collaborate with other team members to understand, research, and provide solutions for the new camera features.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assemble hardware components
  • Participate in the development of a new underwater camera
  • Determine software and hardware requirements to provide solutions to problems
  • Respond to queries on software and hardware problems
  • Conduct experiments with cameras and optical lenses
  • Evaluate equipment in fish farms and physically weigh fish
  • Write test code
  • Develop test and calibration plans

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year in an Engineering technologies programs
  • Experience and/or interest in mechanical, electrical, and/or software systems is an asset
  • Proven effective teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions
  • A valid driver's license is required
