About the Position

Carpenter – Halifax Base with Limited Travel

Sealand has an opportunity for Carpenters based out of our Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia office with limited travel.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work alongside and communicate regularly with the Sealand team and trade contractors
  • Ensure work areas and project sites are clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • At the end of each day, ensure site is clean & tidy, tools and equipment are put away and site, sea cans and trailers are locked

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Installation of vapor barrier, various types of insulation and cladding products including thermal isolation blocks, insulated metal panels, sheet metal siding, and various types of architectural paneling products
  • Installation of doors, frames, hardware, and windows
  • Complete basic concrete formwork and carpentry tasks

Strong advocate and leader of Sealand’s Health & Safety Program:

  • Ensuring a safe working environment for everyone on site
  • Following all safety policies and procedures… all the time
  • Demonstrates good housekeeping habits to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite
  • Completes all daily safety documents without prompting
  • Report any safety issues immediately
  • Provide excellent customer service

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship and/or Red Seal certification program is preferred
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches
  • You understand construction terms, activities, and sequences
  • You have attention to detail and the ability to creatively solve problems
  • You are physically fit and able to work on your feet for 8-10 hours per day
  • You are willing to travel occasionally
  • You have a valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
  • You are willing to complete a criminal background check
