If you share our values and would like to work with a specialized organization, ABCO is presently seeking full time Fabricators/Welders to join our growing team.

Role Description: Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Fabricator/Welder will be a key member of the manufacturing team at ABCO. Responsible for working safely, the Fabricator/Welder will fabricate metal structures and equipment using; sheet, plate, structural shapes, shafting, gearing, sprockets, chain, drive motors and belting. They will operate powered machinery including; rolls, shears, brakes, punch press, iron worker, cut-off saw, pipe threader, coping machine, pipe & tube bender.  

The Fabricator/Welder will conduct cutting, burning and welding which will include the use of oxy-acetylene & plasma equipment, manual & semi-automatic welding equipment. They will work with all metals, focusing on aluminum and stainless steel, using both MIG and TIG equipment. Required standards shall be the tests established by the Canadian Welding Bureau – Code W47.1,W47.2 the NS Department of Labour and other standards as required by agencies such as Lloyds, ABS etc. and sanitary requirements of the food processing industry.  

The Fabricator/Welder will ensure efficiency in completing their work through skilled use of hand tools, meeting the targeted hours for each task. They will be responsible for in-field erection, adjustment, testing and repairs of manufactured equipment.

The Fabricator/Welder will read involved shop and installation drawings and will complete shop testing for manufactured equipment, diagnosing faulty operation, and undertaking corrective repair.  

While following all company rules, policies and procedures, the Fabricator/Welder will promote culture of quality, continual improvement and innovation. The Fabricator/Wedler will be responsible for keeping up-to-date regarding developments and techniques applicable to their trade.   

The shop work environment will includes loud noises, dust, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, electricity and heights.

Qualifications

As an ideal candidate you will hold a Welding diploma and will preferably be certified by the CWB. You will have 1 – 2 years experience in stainless steel fabrication. You will have the ability to read and communicate in English and will be highly safety conscientious.

The successful candidate will be comfortable completing basic math calculations and will be motivated to collaborate with team members while taking direction in a positive manner from the Manufacturing Manager. The Fabricator/Welder will be flexible to work overtime, will hold a valid drivers’ license and will be available to occasionally travel. Preference will be given to candidates fully vaccinated from COVID-19.

In this role you will be a member of a well-established team, gaining experience at a medium sized company offering exposure to four distinct manufacturing branches.
