About the Position

Position Summary: 

As a Biomedical Engineering Technologist Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Clinical Engineering team to support the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of medical equipment. This hands-on role will expose you to a variety of biomedical devices used in pediatric and adult care.  The role will also participate in an asset management project.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior biomedical engineers in the inspection, testing, conducting inventory management activities and calibration of medical equipment.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of biomedical devices, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on a range of medical equipment, including patient monitoring systems and infusion pumps.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and service history.
  • Participate and learn how to assess new medical technologies and provide insights on their integration into the healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address equipment-related issues and ensure a seamless healthcare delivery process.

Qualifications

  • Student of an Engineering Technology program. (Accredited program preferred in fields of Electrical/Electronics/Biomedical), or related post-secondary program which is recognized by CTAB/TAC standards.
  • Must have completed one year of education in their accredited program. Students who have completed year two will also be considered.
  • Registered as a student member with TechNova (or recognized certification body in student home province is preferred.
