Office hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday to Friday

$20 hourly rate of pay (40 hours weekly)  

About the Construction Safety Nova Scotia

Construction Safety Nova Scotia (CSNS) is an industry founded and funded membership based not-for-profit association focused on improving Occupational Health & Safety outcomes in the construction industry. Driven by our values of relationships, quality, and innovation and with the support of the Board of Directors, the CSNS team enables a safer construction industry by engaging with the membership organizations to reduce injuries and improve safety culture. CSNS provides subsidized training and services with qualified, competent, and engaging safety professionals. Overview of Role 

Reporting to an OHS Advisor Team Lead the co-op student will: Assist OHS Advisors perform COR Audits Assist with course delivery and administration Perform updates, maintenance and revisions to CSNS’s OHSMS Assist Safety Administrators process internal COR Audits Assist member companies develop and implement safety programs Complete courses towards the NCSO/NHSA designation Contribute to projects, programs and initiatives Create resources for member companies

Co-op Position Eligibility Criteria: 

To be considered for this co-op position, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Enrollment Status: Must be a current NSCC student in good academic standing and returning to your program for classes in the Fall. Graduating students are not eligible for co-op 
  1. Academic Continuity: Must be returning to your current program for full-time study in the Fall Term. 
  1. Program Requirement: Must be enrolled in an eligible program that has a co-op course. See eligible programs here: https://www.nscc.ca/programs-and-courses/learning-experience/hands-on-learning/work-experience/co-op-programs.asp 
  1. International Students Permit Requirement: International students must possess a valid co-op work permit from the Government of Canada with no restrictions that would prevent them from engaging in the described co-op work. 
  1. Tuition Requirement: The co-op course is an elective first-year course in your program that occurs in the Spring/Summer semester. There is a tuition fee for this course. 
  1. Approval Requirement: All co-op experiences must be approved by your faculty or Academic Chair and sent to workexperience@nscc.ca in order to receive credit towards your NSCC credential. Please check in with your Faculty Advisor before accepting any job offer.
