Name of new NSCC Campus announced

Dec. 02, 2022 – Media Release

Sydney, NS. – With the scheduled opening of the new build to succeed Marconi Campus now less than two years away, Nova Scotia Community College has announced the name of the facility: the NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus.

The new campus will be transformational to the region – serving as a focal point for the city’s waterfront area and as a destination campus and community resource.

Marconi Campus Principal, Carla Arsenault, says, “This new name clearly communicates our location in the provincial network of NSCC campuses. It leaves room for us to honour and showcase our community's rich and diverse cultures through features we incorporate in the overall campus design, with opportunities to name the buildings, rooms and shared spaces on our campus as we get closer to completion.”

The name Marconi has been long-standing for the area campus and local community because of the geographic connection to an historic, celebrated international inventor and Nobel Prize recipient. The College sees this brand new campus as a chance to update the name.

Arsenault added, “The NSCC Foundation team is working to identify naming opportunities for buildings and spaces within the campus that will reflect and honour our diversity as a Sydney Waterfront Campus community.”

The NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus is scheduled to open in September 2024.
