Requesting materials

If your Campus Library does not have the book or journal article you need, we can try to borrow it from another library. We can do this in 2 ways:

Novanet Express

  • These are requests placed with NSCC or Novanet libraries.
  • Anyone registered at a NSCC or Novanet library can use this service.
  • There is no charge.
  • Books arrive in 3-5 business days. Canada Post is currently experiencing high volumes so there may be delays.
  • Most items have a 3-week loan period.  Staff and faculty may be eligible for term loans.
  • Novanet Express items can be renewed up to 3 times.
  • You can return these materials to any NSCC, Novanet, or Nova Scotia Public Library.
  • Occasionally libraries recall materials before the due date. These items need to be returned immediately.
  • You will be notified by email if your request is cancelled. Contact your Campus Library staff who can help you find other suitable resources.

Interlibrary Loan

  • These are requests placed with Canadian libraries.
  • Registered NSCC students, faculty and staff can use this service.
  • There is no charge for this service.
  • Delivery can take 1-4 weeks. Canada Post is currently experiencing high volumes so there may be delays.
  • Most items have a 2-3 week loan period. Contact your Campus Library for renewals (they are not always possible).
  • Items must be returned directly to your Campus Library.
  • You will be notified by email if your request is cancelled. Contact your Campus Library staff who can help you find other suitable resources.
