Student artwork celebrating diversity unveiled at Kingstec Campus Library

A new work of art now welcomes visitors to the Kingstec Campus Library. Unveiled during Wellness Week, the painting highlights student creativity while inviting reflection on the meaning of diversity.

Student artists from across the Kingstec Campus were invited to submit concepts responding to the question, “What does diversity mean to you?” The selected work was created by a student from the Early Childhood Education program, Hazel Baxter, and officially unveiled on January 30, 2026. The painting now hangs in the library and features a series of eyes, each with its own story to tell.

“The human eye is a beautiful and detailed thing, each one being unique from any other” writes the artist. “Together these eyes [symbolize] the beautiful community built when humans not only come together, but work and celebrate together.”

A QR code beside the artwork links viewers to more information about the symbolism behind each eye in the piece.

The project was generously sponsored by the Kingstec Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and the NSCC Foundation, showing a strong shared commitment to creativity, wellness, and community life at Kingstec.
