Cumberland Campus Library GSA Lounge

During Wellness Week 2023, a group of students from the Social Services program asked Jo-Ann Potter, Cumberland Campus Library Technician, about using a corner of the library for a Gender & Sexuality Alliance (GSA) group to meet. Jo-Ann cleared out the space and with the help of more students, the Campus Counsellor, and other staff and faculty, they formed the GSA Lounge. They added new furniture, a rug, and cozy throw. The library Pride resources are also housed in that area along with posters, stickers, buttons and a cute little unicorn!

The Cumberland Campus GSA is very active and uses the space for meetings and to plan activities, events and displays for observations including Wellness Week, Pride Days, Transgender Awareness Week and more.

Every year, the GSA looks different because of the turnover of students and staff. The one constant is the GSA Lounge. It's a welcoming space for everyone wishing to socialize and study. It's been a wonderful addition to the library.
