Changes to the library laptop loan program

The library’s equipment loan program has provided thousands of students with access to a laptop since its inception in 2016. At its peak during COVID-19, the laptop loan program supported students in making the quick transition to online learning, ensuring that those who previously relied on campus computers would be able to continue to engage in their studies.

After 10 successful years of operation, the laptop loan program will be changing in scope and purpose for the Fall 2026 semester, reflecting the evolving needs of the College community.

• Laptops will be available through the library for short-term loan, supporting students who have an urgent and/or temporary need for a laptop.
• Laptops will no longer be available for long-term (semester-long) loans, as of Wednesday, May 27.
• Computers will continue to be available in the Library and Learning Commons, as well as computer labs, for students to access during building hours.

A portion of library laptops will soon be available for purchase by NSCC students. Students may purchase these through NSCC bookstores while quantities last. All students will be made aware of the opportunity, including those who participated in the previous iteration of the laptop loan program during the 2025–26 academic year.
