Summer 2023 Update
When faced with unexpected events, it’s important for communities to come together and support each other. We continue to support our communities and help one another in times of need.
In this update, we will share news about new funding for women in trades and technology, financial aid for equity-deserving students on work placement, the impact of Urgent Aid and an update on NSCC’s Sydney Waterfront Campus.
NSCC Urgent Aid helps students through financial challenges impacting their education. Thanks to donor funding, Urgent Aid recipient Marcia H. can complete her work placement and continue her path to becoming a nurse.
NSCC’s Sydney Waterfront Campus is on track to open for September 2024! The opening date is getting closer and closer, and the construction progress continues to excite the community and supporters.
Thanks to funding from CEWIL Canada, NSCC’s new Where There’s a WIL There’s a Way program provides financial aid bursaries for equity-deserving students at the College participating in mandatory, unpaid work placements.
After seven and a half years, Michelle Bussey, Executive Director, NSCC Foundation and Alumni Relations, will step into a new role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency on July 31, 2023.
On April 25, Admiral announced a generous three-year commitment to support the Women Unlimited program at NSCC to establish the Admiral Women Unlimited Bursary and the Women Unlimited Urgent Aid Fund.
