Our equity-centred actions and commitments

Representing – We pledge to purposefully highlight achievements of diverse researchers. We will do this by amplifying the perspectives and accomplishments of researchers from Black, Indigenous and other equity-seeking communities.

Diversifying – We pledge to continuously work towards welcoming diverse candidates to the Applied Research team and Research Ethics Board through intentional outreach, recruiting and hiring practices.

Listening – We pledge to foster equitable experiences by creating open spaces for complex conversations. We will listen attentively, through discomfort, without being defensive and without criticizing or judging. We are committed to learning from past mistakes so that we will do better in the future.

Supporting – We pledge to offer greater engagement opportunities for equity seeking students to help foster equitable student success in research.

Educating – We pledge to engage in continuous and ongoing learning. We will discuss anti-racism and anti-oppression resources to encourage intentional action and genuine allyship in pursuit of equity within Applied Research.
