Marine Management Training

Course Description Prerequisite Duration
Leadership & Managerial Skills

The course is designed to meet STCW requirements for the application of leadership and Managerial skills, in accordance with the 2010 Manila Amendments, specifically as stated in tables A-II/2 and A-III/2
Course Topics:
• Knowledge of shipboard personnel management and training.
• Ability to apply task and workload management
• Knowledge and ability to apply effective resource management
• Knowledge and ability to apply decision making techniques
Certificate of competency CoC) at Officer level in Navigation, Engineering or Electro-Technical; 6 months (180 days) sea time at the Officer level complete with certificate of competency 35 hours

Propulsion Plant Level 2 (PPS 2)

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to demonstrate sound management practices. They will understand how to manage and organize operation of a power plant as implemented on board a vessel. Good Marine Engineering practices will be emphasized throughout the course. Careful monitoring and operation of the vessel’s machinery will be stressed, with realistic training runs used. Certificate Awarded: Transport Canada Training Certificate

Transport Canada transcript or an ACES-Qualifying Service List verifying 6 months (180 days) of sea time on a vessel with 750kw of engine power

Ship Security Officer (SSO)

This course provides training on implementing and maintaining a Ship Security Plan and for liaising with the Company Security Officer (CSO) and with Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs).
