2024 Marine Skills Competition

March 6th and 7th

NSCC's Marine Skills Competition brings together the Bridge Watch and Navigation and Engineering cadets in team building exercises designed to test their knowledge and ability, but to also help develop leadership skills and confidence as they prepare to enter the industry as qualified ships officers. Navigators and Engineers will be teamed together to test their proficiencies where safety, knowledge of regulations and technical skills will be demonstrated and executed in stations such as Marine Engineering, Marine Navigation, Seamanship and Safety.

Northumberland Ferries has been transporting passengers and their vehicles between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia since 1941. This 75-minute voyage transits across the Northumberland Strait between Wood Islands, PEI and Caribou, NS. Two vessels provide seasonal service between the two provinces.

Bay Ferries operates and manages two vessels in Southwestern Nova Scotia. The MV Fundy Rose conducts daily crossings between Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick. All types of Ro/Ro vehicles and walk-on passengers use the MV Fundy Rose across the Bay of Fundy. As well, Bay Ferries manages the high-speed CAT ferry between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Bar Harbor, Maine.
