Work Term Contest

Two men and a woman working collaboratively on laptops and iPads in the Red Space office.

Work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences are one of the many hands-on ways that NSCC works with the community to prepare students for industry – often creating lasting memories and network connections.

Are you a student or business participating in Nova Scotia Community College’s WIL experience this spring? We want to hear about it and give you the chance to win a $250 lunch voucher for your work team.

Both NSCC students and businesses participating in the College’s WIL experience can enter.

How to enter

  • Post a photo on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn that highlights your NSCC's WIL experience. The photo should demonstrate an NSCC student gaining industry experience with a caption telling us about it.
  • Tag your entry by including the hashtag #NSCCWorkTerm in your caption
  • Follow us on the social media channel that you post on (Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn)

**Make sure we can find your entry! For Facebook, make your entry post public. On Instagram, we can't see your entry if your account is private.

Example of entry posts

These examples are from students during the work term contest in 2023.

Submission from Kirsten Millar (PR '23)
“I have really been enjoying working with the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub’s communications team as I complete my Nova Scotia Community College - NSCC PR work term. A fun fact about our team is that I’m working with three NSCC PR alumni; Michele Charlton (class of 2006), Patrick Cookson (class of 2018) and Maria Laura Todesco (class of 2022). Meeting other program grads is great because you have an instant connection and can bond over shared experiences and a love of PR. I’m lucky to be learning from them as well as the other members of the team. #NSCCWorkTerm”

Submission from Dike Aruagha Ndukwe (IT Systems Management and Security ’24)
“Work placement at the Truro hospital. I have been working with the IT support team, helping staff fix IT-related problems and making their everyday work easier. I can’t wait to get fully stuck in #nsccworkterm.”

Submission from Laura Elenath (Plumbing '23)
“Here I am using a jackhammer to install a new sump pump. I am wearing my Personal Protective Equipment (eye and ear protection, and safety boots). These will minimize my exposure to the workplace hazards. I am also using my "work triangle" to maintain control of the power tool. These factors are the foundation to a good work environment, as taught by NSCC's Plumbing program.#NSCCWorkTerm”
