Alumni Awards

With community in NSCC’s name, it’s no surprise the College’s mission and story are best told through the success of students and alumni. The new NSCC Alumni Awards recognize and celebrate alumni who are making outstanding contributions to their field and community. Recipients will be honoured at the Alumni Awards Dinner in the fall. Forever proud.

Nominations for the 2024 NSCC Alumni Awards are open until 11:59 pm on July 31, 2024.

The four Alumni Awards are:

Community Impact Award

This award recognizes NSCC alumni who have made positive, lasting change in their community. It is presented to a graduate whose accomplishments align with NSCC’s strategic priorities.

Transformational Change Award

This award recognizes NSCC alumni who have used their NSCC education to overcome personal, societal, or systemic challenges to create a dramatic change in their circumstances.

NSCC Service Award

This award recognizes NSCC alumni who have given back to the NSCC community by going above and beyond expectations. It is presented to those who have made significant contributions to the mission and values of the College.

Entrepreneurship Award

This award recognizes NSCC alumni who embody the spirit of entrepreneurship. It is presented to those who have made innovative and positive changes through their leadership and work.

Nominate an alum

Nominations of living alumni of Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) or its predecessor schools* can be submitted by anyone, however self-nominations will not be accepted. Alumni who have previously received an Alumni Award may be nominated in other categories, however the supporting reasons for nomination must be drastically different than the original.

NSCC has a long history in Nova Scotia which can be traced back to the province’s first technical and vocational school in 1872. If you want to nominate legacy alumni who attended a vocational or technical school and you’re not sure if it’s one of the College’s predecessor schools, email and we can confirm.

Nominees cannot currently serve on the NSCC Board of Governors or the NSCC Foundation Board of Directors; nor can they be a sitting member of a municipal, provincial, or federal government. Current faculty and staff of NSCC are eligible to be nominated; however, their contributions should be above and beyond those expected of their normal work duties.

*Those who are connected to the College through Continuing Education, Honorary Diplomas, microcredentials, and apprenticeship without having completed a core program at NSCC are not eligible to be nominated.

Applicant/Nominator checklist

• Completed nomination form
• Have 2-5 reference testimonials on the nominee
  • Can be written or video
  • Must include details on accomplishments
  • Must be from separate people
• Supporting documentation such as news articles, resumes, etc. (links, MS Word or PDFs) may be submitted for consideration.
