February Updates

February has reminded us how unpredictable Nova Scotia’s winters can be with its record-breaking temperatures. We hope this month’s updates bring you a cozy community feel as we share alumni successes, entrepreneur resources, NSCC’s new strategic plan, and more. February is also a time of learning and reflection as we recognize African Heritage Month.

February is African Heritage Month and NSCC Alumni Relations was proud to be part of the 3rd annual Ask a Black Entrepreneur panel. Did you graduate between 2018 and 2022 and want to start or grow a business? Applications for the Scotiabank Entrepreneur-in-the-Making Program are now open for NSCC students and recent grads ready to take their next step as entrepreneurs. If selected, you can receive up to $3,000 in funding, mentorship, and business planning opportunities. Learn more about the program and how to apply at nscc.ca/eitm.

Jubanti Dhan Toppo (HR Management '21) and Mohammad al Masalma (Tourism Management '18) were two of the 10 honourees of the 2023 Most Inspiring Immigrants in Atlantic Canada awards. Both graduates have done incredible work in Nova Scotia and were recognized for their leadership, social responsibility and community contribution.
