Zoe Fitzsimmons's Story

Two students holding pasta dough during a cooking class in Italy
Visiting Italy has always been on my bucket list, and thanks to NSCC International, I was able to make that dream come true. I was fortunate enough to go on a 10-day trip with some of my best friends and favourite teachers I’ve ever had. We travelled from Halifax to Milan, Milan to Verona, Verona to Vienna, Vienna to Florence, then Florence to Rome. My day to blog was our travel day from Verona to Florence. It was an early day, as our train departed at 7:50 am When we arrived in Florence, we had a nice walk from the station to our Airbnb.

Once in Florence, the group started our day with a pasta and tiramisu-making class! We were in a cozy, quaint restaurant where the owner taught us. The food was delicious, and the group was great!

After the class, we had free time to do what we pleased. A classmate and I went on a walk towards the Piazzale Michelangelo, which was located at the top of a big hill with a beautiful view of Florence. To our surprise, when we arrived, there were two men busking, playing amazing music, with a giant, energetic crowd; we had to join in. We ended up staying up on the hill for quite a few hours, dancing, singing, making friends and having a wonderful time.

AND THERE WAS A PROPOSAL!!!
Looking back, this was my favourite night on the trip. The energy around us, the views, and the music combined to create a beautiful evening that I will remember and cherish for a long time to come.
