Joy-Ann's Story
I decided after much deliberation to embark on a new chapter of my life, as I wanted to continue my studies at NSCC Ivany Campus and re-train in another area to make myself more marketable. This meant resigning from my job, leaving my family and walking into the unknown, which was a very scary moment, as I had no idea what awaited me, after deciding to apply and being accepted into the postgraduate certificate program in Business Analysis.
Having visited Campus after visiting Nova Scotia, while on vacation in Toronto in September 2024, I immediately I fell in love, with its vibrant culture, ambiance, and beautiful Campus where I currently live in student housing. Throughout, I also developed a love for the warmth and calm demure of its people.
Once I began my studies, I was eager to participate in campus activities, so I joined the International Student Ambassadors program and was also hired as an ECO Leader in Campus housing, and at the same time working part-time off Campus as well, which called for a pretty good balancing act. Upon completion of my studies in April 2026, I would like to continue volunteering in any area needed to enable me to give back to the people of this community,
My journey thus far, has been an extremely rewarding experience for me, as this allowed me to meet and engage with many people from across diverse cultural spheres, throughout my student involvement, my studies, and my part time job. To say I am indeed looking forward to exploring more of Nova Scotia, visiting many of their tourist attractions and going to the beach in the summer is truly an understatement (I honestly cannot wait to see the immense beauty here in Nova Scotia).
