Olivia Digdon's Story

Oliva Digdon and other students are relaxing in small boats docked along a calm canal on a sunny day

During my trip to the Netherlands, I had the most incredible experience exploring the country with amazing people from all over Europe. I visited picturesque cities like Amsterdam, Deventer, and Apeldoorn, immersing myself in the rich history and vibrant culture of each place. The architecture, canals, and bustling streets painted a beautiful backdrop for our adventures. The food I tried was a delightful mix of traditional Dutch cuisine and international flavours, leaving me with a lasting impression. As I walked through cobblestone streets, shopped at local markets, and strolled through charming neighbourhoods, I felt like I was living a once-in-a-lifetime experience. What made it even more special was the bonds I formed with the other students, creating lifelong friendships that I will cherish forever.

During the BIDS digitization program in the Netherlands, I had the opportunity to delve into the world of cutting-edge technology. The hands-on experience of creating mini-me holograms with AI and coding small robots sparked my curiosity and challenged my technical skills. Exploring podcasting was another highlight, as I learned how to create compelling content and work with professional podcast equipment to bring my ideas to life. Additionally, mastering the art of flying drones added excitement to my tech experience, giving me a new perspective on aerial photography and videography. The program provided me with a dynamic environment where I could push my boundaries, collaborate with peers, and learn valuable skills that will continue to shape my journey in the ever-evolving tech world.

Even as I depart with valuable knowledge in technology, new skills, and cross-cultural experiences that will shape my future, saying goodbye to this incredible opportunity fills me with a mix of nostalgia and gratitude.
