Marie Villeneuve's story

Grenada

I learned how to make Rhum and how nutmeg grows. I also discovered new fruits, such as breadfruit and cashew fruit, and got to taste plantain for the first time. I also had the chance to try Grenadian food. It was so incredible. Every meal I had there was excellent and packed with flavour I’ve never tasted before
From the moment the heat and humidity hit me as I stepped off the plane, I knew this island was going to quickly become one of my favorite places. The chickens roaming everywhere definitely made the experience more enjoyable.
Everyone at TAMCC was so friendly and excited to meet a new group of students from Nova Scotia. Through our presentations, I learned how similar their college is to ours. They also have different campuses that represent different learning areas. Their learning areas are similar to ours, including arts, sciences, and technologies. Their presentation was so insightful, as was the jab-jab dance that came with it. I discovered a new love for Grenadian music in the process.
Even though I got very sunburnt no matter how much sunscreen I put on, I saw the beautiful views every day and enjoyed the warm weather, as well as the warm personalities in our group. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat.
It is a beautiful country, with beautiful, welcoming, and friendly people. From the food to the atmosphere, to the music, to the beaches, to the places we visited, the trip was most definitely worth it, and I encourage anyone reading this to do it as well. This trip has given me a new insight into who I am as a person and how to be friendlier and more open-minded to new and different things.
Marie's trip to Grenada was an unforgettable experience filled with warmth, culture, and connection. From tasting new foods and learning about local traditions to meeting friendly students at TAMCC, the trip opened her mind and heart to new perspectives and lasting friendships.
