Project/Initiative
BS27 hosted a group of NSCC Nautical students to showcase the nautical and ship industry in the port of Hamburg, Germany. Activities included tours of container terminals, a variety of sea vessels and exploring the local coastline. Students will also have the opportunity to shadow the BS27 students in class and take workshops on ropework and barge training. This was a two way exchange where BS27 students and faculty came to NSCC, we have received so far 3 cohorts from Germany since 2024.
Services provided
- Develop an understanding of the shipping and nautical industry in Germany;
- Apply knowledge, skills and attitudes from tasks and projects in an international setting;
- Outline the benefits of cross-cultural collaboration for work-related projects and tasks;
- Build evidence of experiences and new learning (both personal and industry related) for portfolio development and the education of others;
- Assess safety and risk pertaining to international travel to make informed decisions about traveling abroad;
- To identify and reflect on the differences and similarities between Canada and Germany.
