Leave for Change
Summary
Leave for Change (L4C) is a volunteerism program that brings the world to the NSCC workplace. NSCC employees gain experience and exposure to social/development issues and take a key role in making a difference internationally.
NSCC collaborates with WUSC (World University Service of Canada) to offer the Leave for Change program to an NSCC employee annually, transforming their vacation time into a up to four-week volunteer assignment in Sri Lanka, Cote D'Ivoire, Malawi, Ghana or Jordan.
Employees contribute by using their vacation time to serve on assignment; NSCC invests in the employee by matching costs shared with WUSC. Leave for Change volunteer assignments are all about strengthening the capacities of partner organizations in low and middle-income countries to improve gender equality and economic opportunities for youth, particularly women and refugees.
For up to four weeks, L4C volunteers act as advisors, sharing skills and expertise with the staff members of an organization.
