Be ready to learn online

Your eCampus program is made up of courses, and your courses are made up of classes. All your eCampus courses:

  • Have official start and end dates
  • Are delivered fully online
  • Include detailed schedules and deadlines on Brightspace

Understand asynchronous vs synchronous programs

As an eCampus student, your program may be asynchronous or synchronous. You’ll find detailed course schedules and content on Brightspace once your program begins. Learn more about Brightspace

Asynchronous (learning on your own time)
Asynchronous programs are delivered fully online through mainly self-directed courses, with assignment deadlines to adhere to.

Synchronous (learning at scheduled times)
Synchronous programs are delivered fully online through scheduled courses using MS Teams (where you participate online on specific dates and times) and non-scheduled courses using Brightspace.

Prepare for your studies

Learning online looks different for everyone. Whether you’re learning from home, in a library, at a park or in a coffee shop, these tips will help you prepare for success:

  • Take time to consider how you’ll stay organized during your program.
  • Know that eCampus courses have start and end dates, as well as deadlines for projects, assessments and assignments.
  • Find a learning space where distractions are limited.
  • Prepare an ergonomic seating arrangement to avoid strain.
  • Invest in the tools and technology you’ll need to succeed.
  • View the student checklist – your list of things to do to prepare in the months and weeks before your program begins.
