Joud Alouch's Story
My name is Joud Alouch, and I am very excited to become a new international student ambassador here at NSCC Ivany campus. Seven years ago, my family and I moved from Syria, through Turkey and then finally to Canada. That several year journeys taught me a lot about starting over in a new country, adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, and finding your place within a community.
In high school, I served as an ambassador for international students; helping them adjust to classes, school events, and everyday life. I also participated in the Newcomers Club, where I worked with students from different backgrounds to create a welcoming and supportive space. Those experiences taught me how important it is to listen, guide, and connect with others so they feel included and supported.
Now at college, I hope to bring that same spirit and knowledge to our campus. International students, whether new to Canada or here for a while, often need guidance navigating college, community resources, and cultural differences. My goal is to help students feel confident, included and supported as they settle in and thrive. I’m excited to be participate in this role and help make our campus a welcoming place for everyone.
