IWK Clinical Engineering IWK Health provides specialized care for children and adolescents. We are currently seeking a motivated and talented Biomedical Engineering student to join our dynamic team for a co-op position.
Position Summary: As a Biomedical Engineering Technologist Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Clinical Engineering team to support the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of medical equipment. This hands-on role will expose you to a variety of biomedical devices used in pediatric and adult care. The role will also participate in an asset management project. Responsibilities
• Collaborate with senior biomedical engineers in the inspection, testing, conducting inventory management activities and calibration of medical equipment.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of biomedical devices, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on a range of medical equipment, including patient monitoring systems and infusion pumps.
• Document and maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and service history.
• Participate and learn how to assess new medical technologies and provide insights on their integration into the healthcare environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address equipment-related issues and ensure a seamless healthcare delivery process.
